After scoring seven goals in six regular season matches last month to jump up to second on the Golden Boot leaderboard, Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga has been selected as the NWSL May Player of the Month, the league announced on Thursday.

The Kansas City Current and the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), in collaboration with FIFA World Cup 2026 ™, are hosting a Netherlands Community Training Session on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. CT. The training session will be held at Riverside Stadium in Riverside, Mo, located adjacent to the Kansas City Current Training Facility.     Kansas City Current Season Ticket Members, Current Club Members and Teal Rising Alliance Members will receive an exclusive opportunity to sign up for a ticket drawing via the email associated with their account. A limited number of tickets will be made available to each group, and all registered parties will enter a random drawing to receive tickets. Entries are limited to one per account, and selected entrants will receive a maximum of two tickets each.     Fans interested in registering for the Netherlands Community Training Session drawing are encouraged to sign up for Current Club, the Kansas City Current’s trailblazing fan membership experience, HERE.    All tickets will be distributed virtually. Registration is now open for KC Current Season Ticket Members, Current Club Members and Teal Rising Alliance Members — made up of youth soccer clubs and families from across the region. The deadline to register for tickets is 11:59 p.m. CT on June 5. Registrants who earn community training session tickets in the drawing will be notified prior to the event.     The community-focused session provides an opportunity for fans to experience a live training session for the Dutch National Team as Oranje continues its preparations for this summer’s tournament. The Kansas City Current Training Facility will serve as the Dutch National Team’s home base and official team headquarters throughout FIFA World Cup 2026 ™, and the Netherlands will play its final group stage match on Thursday, June 25 at Kansas City Stadium. Concessions and KC Current merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Forward Kyra Carusa, who had been on loan with the Kansas City Current, has been recalled to HB Køge Women. HB Køge Women plays in the highest division of Danish women’s football and has a storied history as a top club in Denmark.

Kansas City Current II concluded a successful showing at The Soccer Tournament (TST), advancing to the quarterfinals after taking the top spot in Group A. Hosted at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., TST is the world’s premier 7v7 soccer festival, bringing together top players, celebrities and clubs from around the globe to compete for three $1 million, winner-take-all prizes.

The Kansas City Current (7-5-0, 21 pts., 4th place) closed the month of May on a high-note, riding a second-half goal from forward Temwa Chawinga to notch a 1-0 victory over NWSL expansion side Boston Legacy FC (2-7-3, 9 pts., 14th place) Saturday at CPKC Stadium. After a stalemate through 45 minutes, Chawinga put Kansas City ahead with an emphatic second-chance finish in the 69th minute as a stout Current defense notched its third shutout victory of the 2026 campaign.     Kansas City extended its home unbeaten run to 23 consecutive matches (20-0-3), setting a new NWSL record. The club also extended its own league record consecutive regular season home win streak to 10. The Current is now an unblemished 6-0-0 at CPKC Stadium this year as the only team without a loss or draw at home.     "It's important to note our fans that show up again. I mention every time, because it has to be at the front of our brains that everything we do is for our fans that show up. We never take that lightly," said head coach Chris Armas. "It's a win for us, which was important. It was a shutout. We want to carry momentum into the break and see our national team players go and do their thing. Real positive feelings around the club. Really important win. Another shutout on the season, and we're going to keep this thing going."    Both sides traded looks throughout the opening half. Boston recorded the first shot on target in the 14th minute, but Kansas City goalkeeper Lorena made the save. Chawinga and forward Michelle Cooper – who, in the 27th minute, became the sixth player in club history to reach 5,000 regular season minutes – combined in the 22nd minute, resulting in Cooper sending an effort just over the crossbar. Midfielder Bayley Feist slipped a ball through the box five minutes later for Chawinga whose shot was deflected, allowing Boston goalkeeper Casey Murphy to push the ball away. Ultimately, the match entered halftime knotted at zero.

KANSAS CITY (May 24, 2026) — The Kansas City Current (6-0-5, 18 pts., 6th place) made NWSL history on Sunday at CPKC Stadium, extending a pair of league-record streaks in a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the Portland Thorns (7-3-2, 23 pts., 2nd place). After the Thorns took the lead in the 14th minute, midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta leveled the contest just before halftime. Kansas City took control in the second half, with forward Temwa Chawinga notching the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute on a feed from midfielder Croix Bethune. In second-half stoppage time, a brilliant individual run from Chawinga set up a breakaway opportunity which was capped by forward Haley Hopkins to seal the 3-1 victory.

LOS ANGELES (May 20, 2026) — The Kansas City Current (5-5-0, 15 pts., 6th place) fell 2-1 against Angel City FC (4-4-1, 13 pts., 7th place) Wednesday night at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. Angel City opened the scoring with a goal in the ninth minute, but forward Ally Sentnor equalized seconds before halftime on an assist from defender Izzy Rodriguez. Both sides traded scoring opportunities in the second half, but the hosts found the match-winning goal in the 71st minute and ultimately held on to secure victory.

KANSAS CITY (May 15, 2026) — The Kansas City Current (5-4-0, 15 pts., 6th place) extended a pair of streaks on Friday night at CPKC Stadium, as the Current rode a brace from forward Temwa Chawinga and a pair of assists from forward Michelle Cooper to a 3-0 victory over the Houston Dash (3-5-1, 10 pts., 10th place). A dangerous cross from Cooper forced an own goal in the 15th minute to open the scoring, and Cooper turned provider with two assists to Chawinga in the 17th and 68th minute to seal the victory. Goalkeeper Lorena made multiple key saves to lead another lockdown defensive effort by the Current’s back line, keeping Houston off the scoreboard to earn the team’s second consecutive shutout.
